do not know who might help...
I have had ear pain for about 6 weeks. First it was diagnosed as inner ear infection, then outer ear infection. It did not get better with medication. 2 weeks ago I had sudden, intense vertigo and nausea. I went to ER, concerned that I was having meningitis again. They diagnosed ear infection. Went to EENT the next day. He said there was nothing wrong with my ear and gave me scopolomine patches to wear for the vertigo. they helped the vertigo immediately, but did not help the pain. I called my rheumy to get me an appt with a neurologist; he refused, saying that my condition did not warrant it. I made my own appt with a neurologist (who is referring me to a new rheumy). He gave me a medication for nerve pain related to the vestibular nerve. I have taken it twice and it just makes me feel worse. Have any of you experienced this? I am calling the EENT and the neurologist tomorrow, but I dont think they have any idea what to do and could use some direction.

Richelle1 published 4 months ago | Originally written in EnglishI also have severe vertigo and ear pain. After being referred to a specialist ENT and then an inner ear specialist it was discovered that the Behcet's had killed my nerves in my inner ear. There is no current way to regrow them so the only thing to do is treat the symptoms of the vertigo and ear pain. I would recommend you having that testing done just to know.

pjwells published 4 months ago | Originally written in EnglishHello, this is my first visit to the Board and I was searching as I have something different going on and it is with my ears. When I awoke this morning, I have swelling in and outside of both ears at the jaws. The right side worse than the left. When you speak of ear pain, do you mean inside or outside? I know this may just be a sinus problem, but just checking. I have not suffered from any vertigo.

sslaird published 4 months ago | Originally written in Englishthanks for the info richelle nd ouafa. pj, that sounds terrible! My symptoms are not like that at all. My right ear has never hurt. I did consider TMJ but I already have a splint and it cleared up my TMJ pain overnight. the pain I am feeling seems to go from the outside of my ear and into my throat. I feel a great deal of pressure and have the awful sensation of somthing moving around in there (science fiction, here we come. I am being taken over by aliens!). the pain is stabbing and throbbing, I have lost hearing, and am unable to even sit up straight without the scopolamine patches. Tomorrow when I return to the ENT I am going to INSIST something be done; I am afraid I wll be like van gogh and cut this ear off!

stefano published 4 months ago | Originally written in ItalianI have hearing problems too due to Behcet's disease, it is a sensorineural deafness in both ears (bilateral) the right ear is the worse. I haven't experienced real 'pain' but i have a lot of tinnitus and crisis similar to Meniere disease but without vertigo. Ears problems are not so rare in behcet, and they can be of different nature, Ouarda knows what i am talking about cause she has hearing impairment too. My problems are in the inner ear, some specialist include hearing drop and vertigo in the neuro-behcet
sslaird I hope the ENT finds what the problem is, has he considered about endolymphatic hydrops?for pjwells: i never had swelling in my ears, as u say can be a sinus problem

Sydney83 published 28 days ago | Originally written in EnglishI experience ear pain however mine is due to my mouth ulcers. I find that when I have particulary large/painful ulcers around the tonsils I will experience ear ache on that side. All I can do is take a panadine forte to help with sleeping, and wait for the ulcer to heal. I will usually take a course of prednisone during this period.
I know this is simplistic, and unlikely to be your issue, but take note of the position of your mouth ulcers. If they are near you eustachiean tube it's possible this is causing the referred pain.
