  Is anyone here from the greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley area in BC Canada.I need a doctor who can do something for me...my family doctor has become very unwilling and unknowledgeable in helping me find a doctor who has dealt with Behcets and has current expertise.Is there anybody who knows a good doctor in British Columbia who is good with Behcets

    I am from the greater Vancouver area and also found it difficult finding a physician that knew anything about Behcet's. My saviour has been my rheumatologist Dr. Stolar who is located in New Westminster. Since this is categorized as a rheumatological disease, she is my primary specialist (although I also have 15 others). My general physician really just refers me to her for anything as he says she is the expert. I would see if your doctor can refer you to her. Please feel free to email me if you would like to compare stories.

    Hi khansen555....Thank you for the name of your Specialist. I will ask my Dr. if he will refer me. I am seeing an Internist this week, but I don't see how he can be of any help...I will go to see him though. Do you have a certain area where Behcets plays havoc? Mine is gastrointestinal pain and mouth ulcers however once in awhile I will get lesions on my face or head..I saw a video on the behcets site that summed up my behcets life. The person said 'Everything you have to do is harder and takes longer'...It is a frustrating disease...I had 6 surgeries as the Dr. thought I had crohns, but when ulcers appeared in my throat..the roof of my mouth...inside both my cheeks & the pain was so intense I had to go to emergency ward..(the Dr said I had a gazillion open ulcers and had never seen that before)..it took 2 years to diagnose it was Behcets.
